Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer is focused on studying, developing, and improving manufacturing processes to implement solutions to increase capacity, quality, and efficiency, while reducing costs and takt times.  The position reports to the Director of Manufacturing, while working together with Engineering and Quality.

 

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support daily production by troubleshooting, collecting, and monitoring data (takt time, cycle time) to ensure appropriate throughputs are being achieved hourly and daily by using appropriate analysis tools
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by utilizing a cross functional team to analyze and plan workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Spearhead process improvements, product flow improvements
  • Create tools and fixtures for efficiency and safety
  • Propose and implement recommendations to reduce manufacturing costs and improve efficiencies, including waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time delivery
  • Create and maintain Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Work with Production Leaders to drive continual improvement activities with the goal of improving overall plant key performance indicators, successfully motivating staff to participate in events and outcomes
  • Assist production with the first build of new products or revisions to existing products
  • Research the latest technology and manufacturing practices and propose their introduction into production as appropriate
  • Source new equipment and aid in the introduction of new equipment to shop floor staff
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety laws, regulations, and guidelines

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, write, implement, and maintain process improvements
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • Self-motivated who possess the ability to work independently and with a team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English, both reading and writing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SolidWorks or similar CAD software

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Mechanical Engineering or the equivalent
