Our Secret Sauce
From HR to our production line, our team is passionate about helping the pupil transportation industry achieve its goal of Zero – zero stop arm violations, zero accidents and fatalities involving school buses, and zero excuses for not obeying the laws that protect our kids. To achieve Zero, you need to build quality products that are designed to perform to the highest level. It’s what separates First Light from the rest. While the rest focuses on driving cost (and quality) out of their products, we are focused on building quality (not cost) into our products. Our passion for Zero is our secret sauce and it goes into everything we do.
We Worry About the Details
We set out to design best-in-class products. It took us more than 3½ years focusing our time, effort, and resources to design, test, and kick-off production of both our Illuminated School Bus Sign and Fully Illuminated Stop Arm. Every aspect of the environment, application, and customer experience was carefully analysed to make sure only the absolute best products are installed on our customers’ buses.
To build to the level of quality our kids deserve on school buses, we considered the extreme and different climates across North America. Our engineers designed and tested to meet those varying environments. Testing is essential to determine if our designs meet our customers’ standards. Through our designing and testing, we identified the best materials and processes to bring our products to life.
We Don’t Leave Anything to Chance
All critical production processes are performed in-house at our Canadian production facility. The plastics, the electronics, and printing of the lenses, are all done within our four walls. Every lens is examined, every sign or stop arm is tested, every part is inspected before it leaves our facility. Because if it’s not good enough for us, it’s not good enough for you.
We Listen to Our Customers
In 2017, when we started out designing our products, one of the first steps we took was talking to our customers. That meant mechanics, Transportation Directors, bus drivers, regulatory bodies, and others, to get their opinions on our designs and the current industry products. Now that our products are on school buses, that doesn’t mean we’ve stopped evaluating them. Our team is dedicated to constantly monitoring our products for unforeseen issues. In order to make school bus transportation safer and to give our customers the best experience possible, we will always take swift action if an issue is identified.
